Rose City Band – summerlong cd/lp

Tweede plaat van Rose City Band. A.k.a Ripley Johnson van Moon Duo/ Wooden Shjips. Nog meer countrified en laid-back zomers dan het debuut. “New to the mix are arrangements and instruments drawn directly from classic country, resulting in songs with more than a hint of twang. The introduction of lap steel, mandolin, and jaw harp enhance Johnson’s lean guitar work with radiant overtones, placing Summerlong more overtly within the country tradition than its predecessor.” Summerlong had ook wel een obscure plaat uit de eerste helft van de jaren ’70 kunnen zijn. Maar dat is het dus niet. Als alles in de wereld okidoki zou zijn, zou dit een perfecte soundtrack zijn. Luister de plaat op bandcamp.
