Joe South – you’re the reason – the early years cd

Wij zijn sowieso enorm fan van Joe South, de man van klassiekers als Games People Play en Walk A Mile In My Shoes. Maar voordat hij echt doorbrak als artiest en liedjesschrijver maakte South al een behoorlijk tijd muziek in de meer rock & roll en rockabilly hoek en ook dat is erg mooi. Bekendst is wellicht I’m Snowed, ooit gecoverd door The A-Bones. Deze cd op Jasmine staat vol met dat oude werk. ‘‘Although nowadays chiefly remembered for his 1969 million-seller ‘Games People Play’, JOE SOUTH had been writing, recording and producing records since the late 1950s. This compilation presents South’s first dozen 45s, recorded between 1958- 62 for a variety of Georgia-based labels, plus a studio outtake and three of his early songwriting/production successes with other artists.
